All About the Development Dimensions International (DDI) Leadership Assessment Test

DDI is a leading name in pre-employment assessments thanks to their variety of assessments with original approaches to skills and trait evaluation. One of their unique approaches to these tests can be seen with their Leadership Assessment.

This test is based on core competencies and highly customizable to the company for which is being used. This allows employers to determine which competencies (or skills) are the most aligned with the goals and needs of their company, then utilize a leadership assessment that focuses on those specific skills and the traits that compliment them.

How a DDI Leadership Assessment is Scored

DDI leadership assessments are not pass/fail test. Instead, the information derived from the test allows for the creation of a chart denoting the test-taker’s results in four different areas – core competencies, personal attributes, experience, knowledge.

Types of DDI Leadership Assessments

DDI boasts about their holistic approach to leadership testing and not using a cookie-cutter personality assessment to determine career-readiness. This has led to the creation of many different leadership test that focus on the competencies relevant to that specific job-field.

Leadership Insight Inventory (LII)

This test focuses on traits that are considered essential for being successful in a complex workspace. This test covers competencies such as time-management, personal disposition, abstract thinking, and more. It is usually reserved for difficult or  multifaceted positions.

Leadership Readiness Assessment (LRA)

The LRA focuses less on cognitive skills related to creative thinking and instead focuses on behavior and how it compliments job-skills. These results can show whether a test-taker has the natural behavior inclinations that make them a good candidate for further development.

Leadership Career Battery (LCB)

The Leader Career Battery is filled with a multitude of leadership tests in a single session. This gives the most in-depth look at a candidates competencies and ability to be successful in the workplace.

Leader3 Ready (L3R)

L3R focuses on skills and traits that indicate a test-taker would do well as a mid-level leaders. This test is unique to other leadership assessments by DDI because it also determines a development plan for the test-taker that can be used to increase their skills and performance.

Health Care Leadership Battery

The Health Care Leadership Battery contains a series of leadership evaluations that focus all areas of being a leader in health care as well as behavioral skills that are necessary for success in high-stress environments.

Manager Ready Assessment

The Manager Ready Assessment is a more involved leadership assessment that looks for traits that indicate a good manager. This exam focuses on similar behavioral traits as other leadership assessments, but also includes high-intensity decision making tasks.
